Which CDTI funding line does your company need?
CDTI combines competitive grants, partially repayable funding, and public-private co-investment schemes. Choosing the right line from the start is the first critical decision in the process.
R&D Projects (PID) — Permanent open call
The most commonly used scheme by SMEs and large companies. It finances projects lasting 6 to 24 months, with up to 75% repayable funding and 5% non-repayable grant, at EURIBOR rate, with 10-year repayment and 3-year grace period. It is the usual entry point into the CDTI ecosystem.
Direct Innovation Line (LDI) — Permanent open call
Designed for smaller and less complex innovation projects than PID. It allows SMEs to access funding for technological developments closer to market. Ideal if your company innovates but has not yet moved into full R&D.
Science and Innovation Missions 2026 — €60 million in grants
A strategic instrument for large-scale R&D projects addressing national challenges in ecological transition, digitalization, health, or security. It targets business consortia with mandatory SME participation and corporate leadership.
NEOTEC — For tech startups
Funds technology-based startups and small companies with 100% non-repayable grants. Designed for innovative projects based on proprietary technology and knowledge.
Eurostars-3 and Horizon Europe — International cooperation
CDTI allocates €32 million to strengthen Spanish companies’ participation in international R&D consortia.

1. Eligibility assessment and initial diagnosis
